2019 Performing Arts Scholarship Application
DEADLINE MARCH 29, 2019
Applicant must be:
A. A graduating senior from a local high school, home school or independent study program with a minimum GPA of 2.75
B. Enrolling in an accredited post-secondary education program with a major or minor in a performing arts program (including technical fields).
Scholarship Selection Criteria
We value an applicant’s commitment to their education. With that in mind, the committee will take into consideration all aspects for the applicant’s academic performance to date including grade point average, extra-curricular club participation, honors and awards. The committee will also take into consideration any unique hardships, obstacles and challenge that students may have overcome in their lives.
Each applicant is required to submit a short essay of up to 600 words in length that addresses the question “what the arts mean to me?” Each committee member will independently evaluate and score essays based on both technical writing (grammar, syntax) and content.
The Lancaster Performing Arts Center Foundation believes strongly in the value of community service. Each application includes a section to highlight those areas of service in the applicant’s life.
The committee may also take into consideration the financial need of applicants in an effort to change the lives of students that otherwise would not have opportunities to pursue an education in performing arts.
Each applicant must submit a sample of his or her talent/skills to the selection committee.
Demonstration and Interview
The committee will review applications and conduct a live audition/demonstration and
interview with selected finalist.
